OREANDA-NEWS. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal did not rule out the possibility of introducing quarantine in the country for the New Year holidays.

“The introduction of tougher measures is not currently being discussed, but we understand: the end of December and the beginning of the New Year holidays are connected to meetings, fairs, and close contacts between people. And this can significantly push the disease, which our medical system cannot withstand,” the politician said, opening the government meeting on Wednesday.

Shmyhal added that at the initiative of the President of Ukraine, the government has developed programs to help citizens and businesses and counts on the support of the parliament. “Yesterday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about important initiatives to support people and business if quarantine is strengthened. I emphasize: we are preparing for all possible scenarios, in particular for the possible introduction of quarantine for the winter holidays,” the Prime Minister said.
