OREANDA-NEWS. The medical authorities of the largest American cities did not record a surge in coronavirus infections after mass protests. The Wall Street Journal reports that physicians came to this conclusion after mass testing of demonstrators.

For example, in the state of Minnesota, where thousands of people took part in protest actions after the death of Afro-American George Floyd detained by the police, doctors checked more than 11 thousand people. It turned out that the share of infected among them was less than 1 %.

In New York City, which also became one of the centers of the action Black Lives Matter, mass testing revealed less than 3 % of infections after mass demonstrations. The number of hospitalized in the city continued to decline. However, the mayor of the city, Bill de Blasio, warned that this trend may turn out to be temporary, and it will be possible to talk about the effect of mass protests on the epidemiologic situation only next week.

Outbreaks of coronavirus were not recorded in Chicago and Seattle also.
