OREANDA-NEWS The Far Eastern Interregional Department of Rosprirodnadzor filed a lawsuit with the Arbitration Court of Primorsky Krai to recover 346 million rubles from Often Trading Company Limited, according to the file of arbitration cases.

The Office of Rosprirodnadzor reported on Tuesday that the claims are compensation for environmental damage for the Rise Shine ship that ran aground off the coast of Primorye in the fall of 2021.

"The Department of Rosprirodnadzor calculated the damage that was caused to nature, and it amounted to 346 million rubles, " the message says.

The company that owns the ship did not compensate the damage voluntarily, so Rosprirodnadzor filed a lawsuit.

The application for production has not yet been accepted – the plaintiff committed a number of violations in the preparation of the claim.

At the same time, an order of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation dated June 2, 2023, was posted on the portal for the publication of legal acts, which states that Rise Shine is on the list of sunken ships that pose a threat of damage to the marine environment by pollution. The ship's removal is scheduled for 2025.

The container ship Rise Shine under the flag of Panama ran aground off the coast of Primorye in the Nakhodka area on November 9, 2021. The ship arrived from China. There were 14 crew members on board, Chinese citizens. Rescuers evacuated the team by helicopter to the shore, after which all Chinese sailors flew home.

A criminal case was opened on the fact of violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of maritime transport (Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

In September 2022, the Rosmorrechflot Maritime Rescue Service announced that the longest rescue operation with the container ship Rise Shine in the history of the service had ended in the Sea of Japan.

Work on unloading and cleaning the vessel from petroleum products was carried out for nine months, during the operation, rescuers of the Primorsky branch of the Maritime Rescue Service transferred more than 736 thousand cubic meters of petroleum products pumped from the container ship for disposal.

Often Trading Company Limited was registered in Hong Kong in 2019.
