OREANDA-NEWS. As Russian Ambassador to Algeria Igor Belyaev said in an interview with RIA Novosti, Russia is ready to produce a vaccine against coronavirus in Algeria and has already discussed this possibility with the authorities of this country and during their meetings with ministers of health and pharmaceutical industry of Algeria.

Igor Belyaev noted that the Russian direct investment fund offers various forms of cooperation on the coronavirus vaccine, including direct acquisition, technology transfer, joint production and participation in the third phase of trials. These are the forms of cooperation that the Russians proposed to the Algerian side.

In August, the Ministry of Health of Russia registered the world's first vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19, developed by the Gamaleya Research Center for Electrochemistry. The first Russian vaccine against COVID-19 was named Sputnik V. The vaccine is based on a well-studied and validated human adenoviral vector platform, the important benefits of which are safety, efficacy and no long-term adverse effects.

Currently, the third phase of clinical trials has been approved and is being carried out in Belarus, the United Arab Emirates, Venezuela and a number of other countries. More than 50 countries have bids for over 1.2 billion doses of Sputnik V vaccine. The vaccine for supply to foreign markets will be produced by international partners of the Russian Direct Investment Fund in India, Brazil, China, South Korea and other countries.
