OREANDA-NEWS. Starting January 31, Russia will restrict movement through 16 checkpoints on the border with China to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus. This is stated in the order, published on January 30 on the website of the government of the Russian Federation.

“From 00:00 local time on January 31, 2020, the Ministry of Transport of Russia together with the Border Service of the Federal Security Service of Russia, the Federal Customs Service of Russia and the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being, are to temporarily restrict traffic through checkpoints at certain sections of the state border of the Russian Federation with the People’s Republic of China,” the document says. The annex lists 16 checkpoints through which traffic will be closed.

It is noted that the Russian Foreign Ministry should notify the Chinese authorities and other countries, whose interests may be affected by such restrictive measures, and emphasize that they are temporary and justified by particular circumstances.
