The blogger was detained in the city of Kapoeta, where he flew to Juba, the capital of the republic. Together with Varlamov, they detained his wife, as well as the founder of the Mediazon portal, Pyotr Verzilov, and two other Russians.
As the blogger himself said, after the arrest, “some local military or security officers arrived and began to search our luggage. "

The embassy confirmed that the Russians had asked for consular assistance.
