OREANDA-NEWS. Russia's ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, met Monday with US finance minister Stephen Mnuchin and discussed the state and prospects of bilateral ties. This was reported by the press service of the Russian diplomatic mission.

"On March 9, Russian Ambassador Antonov met with US Secretary of the Treasury Mnuchin. They discussed issues of the state and prospects of Russian-American relations, the progress in fulfilling the agreements of Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump following the Helsinki summit in 2018 and the Osaka meeting in 2019", said in a statement.

"The Russian side has confirmed its commitment to work together to stabilize bilateral relations. Interest has been expressed in maintaining a regular direct dialogue between the embassy and the US administration", the Russian diplomatic mission noted.

In turn, a statement by the US Treasury said that Antonov and Mnuchin also touched on energy, trade and investment. "They discussed compliance with the sanctions programs, the state of the Venezuelan economy, as well as the potential for trade and investment. Minister Mnuchin emphasized the importance of a calm situation in the energy markets", the document emphasizes.
