OREANDA-NEWS. Russian airspace controls have spotted two strategic bombers B-1B of the United States Air Force over the waters of the Bering Sea. This was reported by the National Defense Management Center of the Russian Federation.

“To identify air targets and prevent violation of the state border of the Russian Federation, a fighter MiG-31 from the air defense forces of the Pacific Fleet was taken into the air,” the message says. The Russian aircraft escorted the American planes near the border and, after they turned around, returned to the home airfield. The press service of the National Center stressed that the flight of MiG-31 took place in strict accordance with international requirements.

This is the second appearance of American bombers over the Bering Sea during the current week. Earlier, MiG-31 and Su-35 fighters escorted the strategic bomber B-1B Lancer which was found near the Russian borders.
