OREANDA-NEWS Servicemen from the Armed Forces of Russia participated in early voting during the presidential elections in the country at a naval base in Tartus, according to the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.

"Crews of combat and support vessels from the Black Sea and Pacific Fleets, as well as military and civilian personnel from the Russian Group of Forces (forces) in the Syrian Arab Republic, participated in early voting at the Russian Naval Base in Tartus," the ministry stated.

The electoral process was organised in line with the federal law on presidential elections, the ministry added.The Federal Council has scheduled presidential elections for March 17th, 2024. According to the Central Election Commission, the voting period will last for three days: from March 15th to 17th. This will be the first time that three-day voting for the President of Russia is held. Additionally, for the first time in the history of presidential elections, remote electronic voting will take place. Residents of 28 Russian regions will also be able to cast their votes online in addition to the capital, Moscow.
