OREANDA-NEWS After the repair is completed at the Sevmash plant, the AS-31 Losharik nuclear deep-water station will undergo tests, during which it will dive to the maximum depth. This is reported by TASS with reference to a source close to the military-industrial complex.

According to the interlocutor, the start of the tests is scheduled for the summer of 2024. During the tests, the manned submarine will perform several dives, including to a maximum depth of six thousand meters.

Earlier, the agency, citing a source, reported that the repair of the AC-31 Losharik was almost completed.

In July 2019, a fire broke out on board the AS-31 Losharik station, which claimed the lives of 14 sailors. At the same time, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu set the task to restore this deep-water station as soon as possible.

The AC-31 Losharik of project 10831 is designed for operations on marine soil at a depth of up to six kilometers. The station's hull hides seven titanium spherical compartments, relatively independent of each other, connected by passages. Presumably, there is a nuclear power plant in the tail compartments. The total length of the submarine is 69 meters, the width is 7 meters, the speed of the underwater course is 30 knots.
