OREANDA-NEWS. On March 31, the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted a law on criminal liability for violation of quarantine rules in the third, final reading. This is stated in a message on the website of the lower house of parliament.

According to the document, for violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules, which entailed poisoning or illness of people, a person can be fined 500–700 thousand roubles (6.4–8.9 thousand US dollars) or imprisoned for up to two years.

For the violation that caused the death, a fine of 1–2 million roubles (12.8–25.6 thousand dollars) or imprisonment for a term of three to five years are introduced. If the violation caused death of two or more people, a guilty can be sentenced for five to seven years in prison.
