OREANDA-NEWS. The Central Bank of Russia does not consider it necessary to expand the rights of law enforcement agencies and receive access to bank secrecy. It is reported by RIA Novosti news agency with reference to the press service of the regulator.

Earlier, the newspaper Izvestia wrote that the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, addressed the Central Bank Chairman Elvira Nabiullina with such a proposal. He noted that now the police are getting necessary information too slowly, which leads to the withdrawal of money from banks. In addition, the Minister suggested concluding an agreement on information interaction between the Central Bank and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“As for the expansion of the ability of law enforcement agencies to obtain banking secrets, the question which the Ministry of Internal Affairs has repeatedly raised, we do not consider it necessary,” the Central Bank replied.
