OREANDA-NEWS Vera (Arina) Novoselskaya, the former Minister of Culture of Crimea, convicted of bribery, wrote an application for admission to service in the special operation zone in the pre-trial detention center, Arslan Khasavov, a member of the Moscow ONK, told RIA Novosti.

"The other day we visited pre-trial detention center-6 in Moscow, where we also talked with ex-Minister of Culture of Crimea Vera (Arina) Novoselskaya Street. She told us that she had applied to serve in her military unit," the human rights activist said.

According to the former official, she applied three months ago. Novoselova expressed hope that her appeal would be considered in the near future, Khasavov noted.

In July 2023, the Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow sentenced Novoselskaya to 10 years in a penal colony in the case of receiving a particularly large bribe. According to the investigation, in 2018 Novoselskaya received 25 million rubles from the beneficiary of Meander LLC for general patronage during construction and installation works of the Crimean State Center for Children's Theatrical Art. She was arrested in Moscow on November 19, 2021, and soon the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, dismissed her from office.
