OREANDA-NEWS The Central Election Commission in Russia reported that the final turnout in the elections to the State Duma of Russia exceeded 51 percent.

According to the head of the Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova, the final turnout was 51.72 percent. She noted that more than 56 million citizens took part in the voting.

The three-day elections to the State Duma of the eighth convocation were held in the period from September 17 to 19. Earlier, Pamfilova at a meeting with the head of state Vladimir Putin said that the turnout in the last elections was unexpectedly high.

This year, five parties were elected to the lower house of parliament: United Russia, the Communist Party, the Liberal Democratic Party, Just Russia — Patriots — For Truth and New People.
