Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the data on the share of Russians expecting a deterioration in their economic situation, linked them to the crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic. The politician noted that similar processes are taking place in other countries.

“The consequences of the crisis caused by the pandemic all over the world are really felt… We are an integral part of the world economy, and similar processes with a high rate of decline and destruction of economic infrastructure… are observed in other countries of the world,” Peskov said.

According to a study by the Russian Public Opinion Research Centre, 25 % of Russians expect their economic situation to deteriorate. 24 % believe that their economic situation, on the contrary, will improve. 60 % of respondents assess their financial situation as average, 26 % gave it a negative assessment, 14 % positive.
