OREANDA-NEWSA second wave of coronavirus on the same scale as the first is not expected in Russia. This was announced by Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko.

"It is unlikely that there will be a second wave of the same scale as the first one. We've acquired a certain immunity, created a system of treatment and prevention," the Minister said. He stressed that the rise in the incidence of coronavirus may occur if epidemiological safety rules are not observed.

The second outbreak of the epidemic was recorded in Europe. But it is not expected in Russia, because the contagiousness (infectivity) of the causative agent is decreasing. At the same time, the level of coronavirus infection may fall to very low numbers, but the COVID-19 itself will not go anywhere, virologists believe. If the second wave does occur, Russians should strengthen their bodies and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Anatoly Altstein, Doctor of Medical Sciences, said that different mutations of coronavirus spread around the world and even within the same country. This is one of the causes of lethal outcomes from infection.

At the moment, Russia is the third most affected country in the world by the number of people infected.
