OREANDA-NEWS. An unenviable fate awaits the Ukrainian army in the event of an attack on Crimea and Donbass. This was announced on Tuesday, January 4, by the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from the Crimean region Mikhail Sheremet.

"If the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy decides to give a criminal order to attack Crimea and Donbass, then the Ukrainian army will face an unenviable fate and many photographs as prisoners of war, and the Ukrainian president himself will be an international tribunal," he told RIA Novosti.

In addition, Sheremet recalled that in 2014, about 80% of the Ukrainian army servicemen who were then in Crimea went over to the side of the Crimeans and swore allegiance to Russia.

“And many of those who left for Ukraine, then tried and asked to come back,” he said.

Sheremet added that over time, the government will change in Ukraine, to one that will listen to its people and take a course towards restoring fraternal relations with Russia and Belarus.

In his New Year's address to fellow citizens, Zelensky raised the issue of Crimea and Donbass. He called the main pain and goal in the coming year - the end of the war in the east of the country.

He also spoke about Crimea, saying that he does not wait "until the world will solve our problems," so Ukraine took the first step, returning the peninsula to the world agenda. In addition, Zelensky promised that in 2022, the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be able to take pictures in Crimea and Donbass.

On December 31, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the civil war in Ukraine was far from over. According to him, the Ukrainian authorities are not going to take steps to resolve the Donbass.
