OREANDA-NEWS. State Duma Deputy Vasily Vlasov believes that an extra month will postpone a sharp increase in the number of social contacts and prevent a new outbreak of coronavirus infection.

The State Duma proposed to postpone the beginning of the new academic year until October 1. Vlasov sent a corresponding proposal to the Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov, writes RIA Novosti.

The parliamentarian justified his initiative by the fact that about 5 thousand new cases of Covid-19 are detected in the country every day. In his opinion, an extra month will allow to postpone a sharp increase in the number of social contacts and prevent a new outbreak of the disease.

“Also, children and their parents will have more time to pass the necessary medical tests before the start of the school year, which will also allow not to create an explosive load on the medical infrastructure,” the deputy said.

Earlier, the Department of Rospotrebnadzor for the Republic of Tatarstan said that new security measures in connection with the threat of the spread of coronavirus will have to be taken by all schools in Tatarstan without exception in the new academic year. Republican schools organize daily mandatory filters at the entrance to buildings with thermometry of children and employees to identify people with signs of the disease.
