OREANDA-NEWS. The incidence of influenza in the Russian Federation for 10 months of 2021 is 50 times lower compared to the same period in 2019. This was announced on Tuesday, December 14, by the head of Rospotrebnadzor, the chief sanitary doctor of Russia, Anna Popova.

"Influenza - 50 times" - follows from the comparative data given in the presentation by Popova at the general meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

On December 7, Rospotrebnadzor announced that more than 59.46 million Russians were vaccinated against influenza this season, which is 40.7% of the country's population.

On November 30, the department reported a decrease in the incidence of influenza and ARVI in Russia. Thus, in the period from 22 to 28 November, as compared to the previous week, the number of regions with an excess of epidemic thresholds for the total population slightly decreased.

Since November 17, in the Russian Federation, according to the decree of the chief state sanitary doctor, all patients with acute respiratory viral infections undergo a mandatory examination for the detection of coronavirus. Popova explained this decision by the desire not to miss patients with a more dangerous infection.

On October 22, the Ministry of Health authorized the simultaneous vaccination against COVID-19 and influenza. The department reported that the use of "Sputnik V" with a vaccine for the prevention of influenza was studied in preclinical studies, during which it was proved that there was no decrease in the immunogenicity of vaccines when administered simultaneously.
