OREANDA-NEWS. According to the ZDF TV channel, referring to a high-ranking EU diplomat, Austria, Hungary and Slovakia have decided to withdraw their veto on the EU embargo on oil from Russia. About it writes RIA Novosti.

According to the channel, an important factor in this was the decision of the German government to support the embargo. Slovakia and Hungary opposed an early ban on oil imports due to their heavy dependence on supplies from the Russian Federation.

Recall that before this, Assistant to the German Chancellor for Economic Affairs, Joerg Kukis, said that Berlin is in favor of an embargo on Russian oil, but this requires “several months” to prepare for the cessation of supplies from Russia.

As the Public News Service reported earlier, Prime Minister Gergely Gulyas also said on HirTV that Hungary, if necessary, would veto the EU initiative, which could lead to a restriction of energy resources from Russia. About it writes RIA Novosti.
