OREANDA-NEWS. The American company Google, which owns the YouTube service, may begin withholding taxes on video bloggers outside the United States who receive advertising revenue in the summer. This follows from a post posted on the official Google website.

The company asked bloggers to submit relevant tax information to AdSense by May 31, 2021 so that Google can determine the correct amount of taxes to deduct, if any. If video creator tax information is not released by May 31, 2021, Google may require a deduction of up to 24% of the blogger's global YouTube revenue.

It is clarified that the income generated by the blogger from viewing his content from the United States will be taxed, and if he provides the necessary information, his tax rate will range from zero to 30% of income attributable to the United States, and will depend on whether there is the country in question has a tax treaty with the States.

Google also explains that Google is responsible under Chapter 3 of the US Internal Revenue Code to collect tax information from foreign video bloggers who generate income and to withhold taxes in certain cases.

Meanwhile, the newspaper Vedomosti wrote yesterday that foreign companies may be obliged to pay personal income tax for Russian bloggers who make money from advertising using platforms such as YouTube. According to the newspaper, the proposal of the Ministry of Digital Science is set out in the plan for the development of the information technology industry in Russia.
