OREANDA-NEWS Russian Alexandra Goryachkina beat Nurgul Salimova from Bulgaria in a tiebreak and became the winner of the World Chess Cup in Baku.

In the final, the rivals finished both games of classical chess in a draw on Saturday and Sunday. In the tie-break with shortened time control, which took place on Monday, the 24-year-old Russian turned out to be stronger. The total score of the confrontation is 2.5:1.5 in favor of Goryachkina.

The bronze medal of the tournament a day earlier was won by Ukrainian Anna Muzychuk, who beat Chinese Tan Zhongyi in two games with a total score of 1.5:0.5. Salimova and Muzychuk guaranteed themselves a place in the candidates tournament following the results of the tournament, Goryachkina made her way to the competition earlier.
The World Cup started on July 29 in Baku. Russians and Belarusians competed as neutral athletes.
