OREANDA-NEWS Natalia Kasatkina, People's Artist of the RSFSR and head of the Moscow Classical Ballet Theater, died at the age of 90. This was announced by her assistant Valentina Buryanova, RIA Novosti reported on Thursday, March 14.

The causes of the actress' death have not been disclosed, the date and place of farewell to Kasatkina will be announced later.

Natalia Kasatkina was born on June 7, 1934 in Moscow. A year after graduating from the Moscow Choreographic School in 1953, she joined the Bolshoi Theater troupe, where she performed roles in such productions as Igor Stravinsky's "Sacred Spring", Georges Bizet- Rodion Shchedrin's "Carmen Suite", Pyotr Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" and others.

Since 1977, the artist and her husband, choreographer Vladimir Vasiliev, have led the Classical Ballet concert ensemble, and in 1992 they began to head the State Classical Ballet Theater.
