OREANDA-NEWS The Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova reported a significant increase in the attendance of Russian museums: an increase of two times in 20 years.

"Over the past 20 years, the number of exhibitions in Russian museums has tripled, and the number of visitors has doubled: from 73 million people (in 2000) to 148 million people (in 2022)," Lyubimova said at the plenary session of the day of the Ministry of Culture of Russia within the framework of the Russia exhibition forum.

She noted that since 2000, the network of Russian museums has increased one and a half times. Thus, new federal museums were created - the State Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve "Fanagoria", the museum "Smolenskaya Fortress". The Pskov State United Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve, the Historical, Architectural and Natural Museum-Reserve Izborsk, and in 2024 the Sergiev Posad State Historical and Art Museum-Reserve were accepted into federal jurisdiction.

She also said that since 2012, more than 600 thousand museum items have been restored throughout the country.

In addition, the minister said that over the past four years, the Ministry of Culture has provided "turnkey restoration of more than 150 cultural heritage sites," and that the largest International Restoration Center in Europe has appeared in Russia.
