OREANDA-NEWS The Moscow International Book Fair (MIFF) is opening its doors for the 36th time to residents and guests of the capital, who are waiting for more than 300 events at seven venues of the Expocentre Central Exhibition Complex (Pavilion No. 5) for five days, the press service of the event reported.

More than 300 participants from Russia, Belarus, Germany, Kazakhstan, China and Iran will present novelties and bestsellers of all genres at the fair. Belarus became the guest of honor of the fair, the grand opening of the stand of which will be held on August 31.

In particular, the fair will be attended by writers Dmitry Danilov, Denis Dragunsky, Nikolai Svechin, Mikhail Elizarov, Alexandra Marinina, Daria Dontsova, psychologists Mikhail Labkovsky and Tatiana Muzitskaya, as well as artist Veniamin Smekhov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi, art historian Zelfira Tregulova, President of the All-Russian Federation of Art gymnastics Irina Viner.

The authors of young adult books for "young adults" - Lia Arden, Asya Lavrinovich, Yana Lett, Valery Pecheykin - will meet with fans. And as part of the cross-industrial project of the Agency for Cultural Initiatives under the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of Moscow, a pitching of ideas for film adaptations of "Comic Immersion" will take place. The Russian State Library for Youth (RGBM) will present the project "Comics Point RGBM", where famous Russian comics artists will demonstrate their works in the format of the alley of authors.

In the program "KNIGABYTE. The Future of the Book" authors, developers and experts will share their experience of multimedia products, audiobooks and podcasts, digital services and tools, discuss the impact of new technologies with special attention to the prospect of using neural networks. Lectures and discussions on topics related to literature, culture and art are expected for visitors to the Library of Moscow site. New art albums, exhibition catalogues, publications about painting, design, architecture will be presented by Moscow museums and publishing houses that produce art books.

More than a dozen major professional events will be held as part of the business program. Thus, at the industry conference of the Russian Book Union and the Ministry of Digital Affairs of Russia "The Russian Book Market - 2023", the state and prospects for the development of the Russian book industry, the main trends in book distribution in Russia in the first half of 2023, measures to combat piracy will be discussed.

By tradition, the fair will host award ceremonies for the winners of the National Contest "Book of the Year - 2023", the XX International Contest "Art of the Book" of the CIS member states, the XII contest of professional skills "Auditor-2023" and the V season of the All-Russian literary contest "Class!".
