OREANDA-NEWS The Russian State Museum of the Arctic and Antarctic will hold a festival "A Little about Dogs" in St. Petersburg on August 12, dedicated to the life and work of these animals in harsh polar conditions - from their training and training to the peculiarities of dog sledding in the snow, the press service of the museum told reporters.
"The Museum of the Arctic and Antarctic will host a unique festival dedicated to the permanent companions and assistants of polar expeditions - dogs. The festival "A little about dogs" is designed to introduce participants to the faithful furry friends of polar explorers and tell about the peculiarities of working with dogs at the poles. Fluffy tailed friends who have conquered more than one pole will also be guests of the festival. The event starts at 13:00. Admission is free," the press service said.
The festival program includes various lectures by polar explorers, as well as interactive events. The prize-winner and winner of dog sled races, including the World and European championships, Maria Fedorova will talk about different breeds of sled dogs, show riding equipment, and also introduce Siberian huskies.
Another specialist, an employee of the ethnopark "Geografika" Veronika Korobova will introduce the Alaskan malamute breed and tell about modern dog expeditions, and polar explorer Viktor Boyarsky will tell about the Transantarctica expedition that got into the Guinness Book of Records, a significant part of which took place on dog sleds. In addition, participants of the lesson "Our Faithful Friends" will be able to create their own version of the best dog, which will be held by the museum's partners - employees of the Special Pushkin City Children's Library.
