OREANDA-NEWS  Three new national tourist routes have appeared in Russia, Acting Director of the Tourism Development Department MAYOR Alimbek Khidzev said on the sidelines of the WEF-2023.

"The routes of the Kemerovo and Murmansk regions, as well as another one uniting Tatarstan, Chuvashia and Mari El, have received national status," the official said.

He noted that the assignment of the new status will help the regions to unlock their tourism potential and will make the points of attraction much more accessible to travelers. "For the subjects, this is a good tool for attracting an additional flow of guests, as well as receiving support measures. Within the framework of the national project "Tourism and the hospitality industry", the region can receive a grant for the construction of a tourist route. This year we have supported about 180 such initiatives," Khidziev said.

It is noted that the basis of the interregional route "The Great Volga Way" is the historical Volga trade route. It includes cities such as Kazan, Yoshkar-Ola and Cheboksary, as well as the island of Sviyazhsk.
