OREANDA-NEWS. Boeing [NYSE: BA] today named Florent (Flo) Groberg director of Veterans Outreach, effective Sept. 2. He will be based in Washington, D.C.

In this role, Groberg will be responsible for developing and implementing a company-wide giving and engagement strategy for Boeing's support of military veterans and their families, and he will lead Boeing's community engagement in the eastern United States.

Groberg is a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor, the United States' highest military honor, for his extraordinary gallantry, intrepidity and heroism while serving in combat operations in Afghanistan in 2012.

Tim Keating, senior vice president of Government Operations, said that Groberg's story is one that motivates and inspires. "Captain Groberg is a man of honor. A true American hero and a gifted leader. His lessons from the battlefield, including the importance of teamwork, trust, discipline and selflessness will be invaluable to our Boeing team."

Prior to joining Boeing, Groberg served as a spokesperson for LinkedIn where he was responsible for the promotion of LinkedIn's veterans program – a tailored job search tool for veterans transitioning out of military roles and into the civilian workforce.

Groberg's military career began in July 2008 upon enlisting in the United States Army. After completing officer training and both U.S. Army Airborne and U.S. Army Ranger Schools, he was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colo. as a platoon leader. After rising in the ranks following progressively more challenging assignments, Groberg was promoted to the rank of Army captain in July 2012.

Groberg holds a bachelor's degree in criminology and criminal justice from the University of Maryland, College Park.
