OREANDA-NEWS. June 19, 2008. In the next five years Belarusian Steel Works should try to stop selling intermediate products, in particular, large-size steel billets. The accomplishment of the goal will allow drastically boosting the output without racking up steel production, BMZ Director General Nikolai Andrianov said in his speech at the Belarusian Metallurgical Forum on June 18.

To reach the goal, the company has developed a retooling plan, which focuses on beefing up the production of science-intensive products. In particular, the company plans to double the production of bead wire and metal cord. A small-size rolling mill will be built. The company will be able to produce new kinds of building bars, hot-rolled rods for hardware production. There are also plans to start producing seamless pipes with special surfacing and additional accessories.

The investments in these projects are expected to make \\$250 million.
