OREANDA-NEWS. On 05 August 2008 was announced, that the investment committee of CJSC IES considered at an extended session the investment projects developed by TGC-5, TGC-6, TGC-7 and TGC-9. According to the projects, in total over 3 GW of new power-producing facilities will be constructed.

Based on the results of the session, the investment programs of the four generating companies, of which IES is the main shareholder, were approved at large; however, a decision was made that prior to the implementation some projects should be amended. The amendments are due to external objective factors including changes in the consumer demand for thermal and electric energy, initial undervaluation of the infrastructure required for construction and problems related to fuel and contractors. In accordance with the investment program, IES intends to implement 18 projects in seven Russian regions.

IES has already started constructing new power-producing facilities. The most significant of these projects are the reconstruction of Kirov HPP No. 3 (capacity to be commissioned: 140 MW), Syzran HPP (construction of 190-MW steam plant), reconstruction of Perm HPP No. 6 (114 MW), construction of Novo-Berezniki HPP (220 MW), extension of power producing facilities at Novosverdlovsk HPP (150 MW) and power supply to the first stage of the housing project in the Akademichesky urban-planning district in Ekaterinburg (220 MW).

IES will publish and present the final approved investment program in autumn.
