OREANDA-NEWS. On 07 August 2008 was announced, that the OGK-1 company's revenues from electricity sales jumped by 24.3 percent in the first six months of this year. In the period, the company's power plants sold 23,515.7 million kWh for 21,854.7 million rubles in the wholesale market compared with the first six months of the previous year when they sold 21,635 million kWh for 17,585.4 million rubles.

A total of 3,267.8 million kWh was supplied under regulated contracts. The company sold 1,613.9 million kWh in the spot market and 149.7 million kWh in the balancing market. To fulfill its obligations before customers, the company bought 1,072.3 million kWh in the former market and 167.4 million kWh in the latter market.

Compared with the first half of 2007, the company's electricity output increased by 8.7 percent. Its electricity sales went up by 3.7 percent in the spot market.

Sales under regulated contracts and purchases of electricity in the spot market dropped by 8.5 and 34.7 percent respectively as the market liberalization rate increased from 10 to 15 percent from January 1, 2008 causing a decrease in the number of regulated contracts and in the purchase of electricity aimed at fulfilling obligations before customers.

The output of power plants run by the First Generation Company amounted to 25,145 million kWh in the fist six months of this year, up 10.7 percent on the same period of the previous year when it totaled 22,723.02 million kWh.
