OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 August 2008 was announced, that skilled experts who try to observe nature protection actions in full work at the construction of the Eastern Siberia – Pacific Ocean oil pipeline. Vasily Nikolaev chief for Olekminsky inspections of nature management has declared it.

One of these days the construction site on 1175 km of the East oil pipeline near Soljanka settlement was visited by a group of journalists of the Yakut mass-media. According to the chief of the site Evgenie Olejnik, 305 kilometers of ESPO will cross the territory of Olekminsk area. Owing to environmental conditions during this season the basic part of works on the given section of a line is planned for the winter period. At the moment welding of pipes is performed at the site. Seven layers of welding are imposed on each joint within 90 minutes by means of automatic technologies. After that bend and break tests are performed at the welded seam. Besides, seams are checked under a high pressure.

The particular interest of journalists was caused by a course of construction of an underwater transition through Lena. The Olekminsk site plot chief has explained that installation  of a 1598 m long pipe in a trench will begin in September. Previously bottom certification will be conducted by means of diving shooting. Installation works will be carried out on depth of 6-7 meters on the river bed by a dragging method: the pipes welded in 200 m long loops will be drag in water by a wrench. The insulated part of a pipeline passing through a water barrier is planned to be wrapped up entirely in line lath with heavy pig-iron loads. At present preparation of all 8 lashes is finished. Besides, the designers plan to build a reserve loop of the oil pipeline through Lena structure in 5-6 years.

 In the end of inspection at the Olekminsk site of the Eastern Pipeline the chief of local inspection of nature management Vasily Nikolaev has informed representatives of mass-media that only skilled experts who aspire to observe all requests of the nature protection legislation work at the construction of the ESPO. Minor disturbances during realization of the project are operatively revealed during regular inspections Russian Federal Service for Ecological, Technical and Atomic Supervision experts. Ministry of Natural resources of Yakutia keep eyes peeled on the course of project.

Before commissioning of the site the inspectors have ordered to make complete clearing of territory from wood and brushwood.
