OREANDA-NEWS. November 09, 2009. Azerbaijan and Slovenia have conducted in Baku today a joint roundtable dedicated to bilateral co-operation in industrial sector and machine building.

Gulmammad Javadov, deputy minister of industry & energy of Azerbaijan, said that his country was interested to develop bipartite links with Slovenia.

“Currently Azerbaijan focuses much on non-oil sector development and is realizing diverse state programs for these ends. In particular the government pays great attention to renewable energy issues and passed a relevant program. We’d like that Azerbaijani and Slovenian business circles would collaborate in its implementation,” Javadov said.

Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC) and State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) have undertaken the matter of financing for renewable energy industry.

Addressing to the roundtable Ales Cantarutti, a representative of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Slovenia, informed that trade turnover between the two countries was about 10 million euro.

“This figure is based on last year’s indicators and is not large. I hope it is going to increase in the future. Reps of 60 companies are paying visit to Baku presently. On 9-10 November, they will be in close contact with the Azerbaijani party to cover prospects of partnership. Besides, Slovenia is a European Union member and that opens for Azerbaijan an opportunity for collaboration with countries of South-Eastern Europe,” Mr. Cantarutti said.
