OREANDA-NEWS. August 06, 2010. In 2010 wheat harvest in Moldova will exceed 800 thousand tons and the food safety of the country will be ensured, - Valeriu Cosarciuc. This was announced by Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry.

He noted by now 795 thousand tons of wheat, 245 thousand tons of barley, 45 thousand tons of rape and 19,5 thousand tons of peas were harvested. According to him, the crops harvest comes to a close – 98% of areas were harvested.

The crop capacity turned out lower than it was forecasted because of the rains. At the same time, the collected amount of food wheat with high gluten, suitable for baking of bread, will be enough in order to ensure the food safety.
