OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel (hereinafter – MMC Norilsk Nickel or the Company) announces today that ISS Proxy Advisory Services (ISS) released its analysis and voting recommendations for the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of MMC Norilsk Nickel shareholders to take place on March 11, 2013.

ISS recommends shareholders of MMC Norilsk Nickel to approve early termination of powers of Board of Directors of the Company and to support the election of independent non-executive directors  Garreth Penny, Enos Ned Banda and Gerhard Prinsloo.

ISS analysts point out that of all the independent nominees, the aforementioned gentlemen are most capable of making impartial decisions that contribute to the benefits of all shareholders of the Company.

Garreth Penny is a new nominee to the Company’s Board. He is the Executive Chairman of New World Resources plc, one of Europe’s leading hard coal and coke producers  Mr. Penny is aslo the former CEO of De Beers Group and has strong mining experience and expertise.

Enos Banda is an incumbent independent board member and the Chairman of the Audit Committee. He is former Head of Global Investment and Corporate Banking Department for sub-Saharan Africa at HSBC and has considerable experience in finance, as well as an understanding of International and Comparative law being a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Currently Mr. Banda serves as CEO of Freetel Capital.

Gerhardus Prinsloo is one of the incumbent independent board members. Mr. Prinsloo is the majority owner and director of Natural Resource Partnership, a company specialising in providing strategic and technical solutions to natural resource companies.
