OREANDA-NEWS. July 25, 2014. POSCO Global Youth Volunteer `Beyond` held its launching ceremony at the Gwangyang Steelworks which is attended by Gwangyang Steelworks head Seunggwan Baek, Habitat for Humanity Korea head Hongdae Kim, and 100 students, starting official activities.

Beyond was jointly established with Habitat for Humanity Korea in 2007 as one of POSCO`s social contribution activities, which was designed for college students to strengthen their volunteer mind, and to spread a culture of sharing.

Beyond members are called `Beyonders` with the meaning of, `Spreading a culture of sharing beyond regions to the global community, and becoming future oriented volunteers going beyond the present.` Each year, approximately 100 youth members have participated with great passion.
Since the 1st Beyond members started with home building in Delhi, India, Global Youth Volunteer have carried out diversified activities including home rebuilding activities in Bandung, Indonesia, which was damaged by an earthquake, as well as home building activities in the Bawana village, located northwest of Delhi. For the past seven years, Beyonders through home building, educational volunteering, and cultural exchange have become one with local neighbors of Chonburi of Thailand, Bandung of Indonesia.

Gwangyang Steelworks head Seunggwang Baek encouraged members saying, ``I congratulate you on becoming `global sharing youth` who spread the true value of sharing globally. POSCO will support and cheer your Beyonder activities for the next year so that it may end safely.``
one of the 8th Beyond members, Changyang Go commented, ``I hope to grow one step more through Beyond, and will not hold back in becoming a stepping stone for more volunteer activities to come,`` displaying his enthusiasm for the coming activities.

The 8th Beyond members will join Habitat for Humanity Korea from July 15th for 3 days in Chuncheon to participate in the `Dream Project,` starting its official activities. From August to December, they will participate in the small group volunteer activity `Another Story,` which promotes the importance of homes with flash mobs and fundraising supporting Habitat projects. Afterwards, the members plan to participate in Global Village activities in Vietnam or other foreign countries. They will work with local home partners to build homes as well as participate in cultural exchanges with local students and volunteer corps., sharing the warm value of sharing crossing borders.


In addition, Beyond have participated as a member of `World Friends Korea` led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and KOICA, heightening the national brand value of Korea. And Beyond was ranked 1st in the `Best Overseas Volunteer Corps Selected by College Students` last year. To honor Beyond activities, the first photo exhibition (Youth, Build the World) was held in May at Topohaus in Insa-dong, Seoul, exhibiting the various activities of Beyond and Habitat for Humanity Korea during the past 7 years.
