OREANDA-NEWS. Shvabe Holding was granted a marketing authorization for its new medical device, respiratory gas humidifier UDS-Tevlar, by RosZdravNadzor.

Yalamov Urals Optical & Mechanical Plant JSC, a Shvabe Holding enterprise, developed and successfully tested in clinical trials its respiratory gas humidifiers UDS-Tevlar. The Federal Service on Surveillance in Healthcare and Social Development (RosZdravNadzor) granted a marketing authorization for the device.

USD-Tevlar was designed to heat and humidify a respiratory gas fed to a patient through an artificial respiration unit, an inhalational anesthesia machine or an oxygen inhaler. The device can automatically maintain the respiratory gas temperature and humidity parameters set by the physician and uses automatic channels to adjust such parameters. The evaporation chamber of the device has a spiral air duct made from a porous metal, which cools water, as well as a respiratory gas overheat alarm.

"The humidifier we developed has lots of advantages, including its easy maintenance, safe use, compact size and small weight, which enables an efficient use of the device with any artificial respiration units, inhalational anesthesia machines or oxygen inhalers," commented Nikolay Rakovich, Deputy General Director for R&D and Innovative Development, Shvabe JSC.

Commercial production of the respiratory gas humidifier UDS-Tevlar is expected to be launched in June 2015.
