OREANDA-NEWS. The Swiss company Allseas does not plan to resume laying the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and will send pipe layers engaged in it to another work. This was reported by TASS news agency referring to the press service of the company on December 30.

On December 20, US President Donald Trump signed the defense budget for 2020, which provides for sanctions against the gas pipelines Nord Stream 2 and TurkStream. Washington demanded that contracting companies stop construction immediately. Allseas fulfilled the requirement promptly.

On December 27, the US State Department announced that contractors would be able to avoid sanctions if all operations will be stopped before January 20. Allseas decided not to resume construction even before mentioned date, although it remained to lay about 160 kilometers of pipes out of 2460 kilometers of the whole distance.
