OREANDA-NEWS. Czech private sector energy firm EPH has contracted US biomass producer Enviva to supply 800,000 t/yr of wood pellets to its 420MW Lynemouth power plant, in the UK.

Deliveries will start by the end of next year, ramp up to 800,000 t/yr in 2018 and continue until the first quarter of 2027. The contract is priced in dollars, except for 160,000 t/yr, which is denominated in pounds.

The contract represents more than half of Lynemouth's annual requirements, Enviva said. The plant will consume around 1.4mn t/yr of wood pellets, the plant's building contractor, engineering firm Doosan Babcock, said.

Work has started on converting the coal-fired facility to burn wood pellets. EPH last month proposed a start-up date of 24 September 2017 for the plant.
