OREANDA-NEWS. The head of the German Eastern Business Association, Oliver Hermes, spoke about the situation around the construction of the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2, he called on Washington to respect European sovereignty and return to broad cooperation with the authorities of Germany and Europe. The newspaper Welt writes about it.

As reported by the agency DPA, the American leadership is contacting European companies involved in the construction of the pipeline and warning them about possible sanctions.

“Such an approach is completely ruled out among the allies,” Hermes stated. He called the probable extraterritorial sanctions from the United States an unacceptable interference with international law.

Last week, the German Eastern Business Association wrote to the speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, expressing concern about the Democrats’ plans to impose new extraterritorial sanctions against Nord Stream 2 and urged that those intentions be abandoned.
