OREANDA-NEWS. The operator of the gas transmission system of Lithuania announced the start of work on the construction of a gas pipeline to Poland.

A message from the head of Amber Grid company, Nemunas Biknius, is quoted by TASS agency. According to it, Vilnius is already marking routes for the pipeline and is conducting other preparatory work. The Polish manufacturer has already supplied pipes to Lithuania. Biknius noted that the construction schedule is very busy, therefore “every day is important.” The completion of work is scheduled for the end of 2021.

Till nowadays, the gas networks of Lithuania have been integrated only to the east and had no connection in the west. A pipeline to Poland with a length of 522 kilometers will change this situation. The project cost is about 500 million euros. 60 % of it will be financed by the European Union.
