Apple Maps, Parkopedia team up to make parking, charging easier
Now, when you search for "parking" in Apple Maps, you'll get more than just a list of lots. Click on one, and it'll pull up some relevant Parkopedia information, including the number of spaces, the lot's hours, whether or not it's lit and whether or not it has EV charging. If you want to get more in depth, there's a button that'll take you to Parkopedia's app.
Parkopedia told 9 to 5 Mac that it plans on adding more specific pricing information, so that buyers can find the cheapest lot in a given area. If you have iOS 9, your Apple Maps app has likely already been updated to reflect this new addition. That said, only certain regions have access to the information right now, but it's rolling out globally over time.
This isn't Apple's first foray into third-party map partnerships. It's already worked with Yellow Pages, TripAdvisor, Yelp and others to include relevant information wherever's necessary. Considering the titan-like ubiquity of Google Maps, this could give Apple's own mapping app a popularity boost.
