OREANDA-NEWS. September 26, 2016. Kaspersky Lab announced today that its Kaspersky Internet Security solution was awarded a ‘Level 1’ certification from MRG Effitas, following its quarterly 360 Degree Assessment & Certification for Q2 2016. It was the only such product to attain the top certification out of the 16 security solutions tested.

MRG Effitas’ 360 Degree Assessment & Certification measures the ability of security products to protect an endpoint from a live infection, and in the event of a system being compromised, the time taken to detect the infection and remediate the system. The time-to-detect-and-remediate component relies on each security product being manually forced to conduct a scan every 30 minutes over a 24 hour period.

The testing is designed to serve as a reflection of product efficacy. As part of the rigorous 360 Degree Assessment, Trojans, backdoors, ransomware, potentially unwanted applications, financial malware and “other” malware are used. The MRG Effitas 360 Degree Assessment and Certification Program introduces malware to an endpoint through a realistic vector, such as a browser or USB memory stick, and merges dynamic testing with system rescue testing. Then, it goes a step further by measuring the time security products take to detect infections and remediate the endpoint. As such, it is one of the most complete real world tests available for an endpoint security solution.

The ‘Level 1’ certification awarded to Kaspersky Internet Security is only granted when all threats are detected and blocked within a 24 hour window following infection. A lower ‘Level 2’ certification is granted when detection and disinfection is performed successfully for at least 97 percent of all test cases during, or after manually initiating a system scan, the 24 hours have passed. Four solutions achieved the ‘Level 2’ certification. The remaining 11 products tested failed the certification.

In addition, it was found that Kaspersky Internet Security provided 100 percent protection against ransomware and 100 percent protection from financial malware.

“At Kaspersky Lab, we know how important it is for our users to be able to protect what matters most to them, whether that’s protecting their data from ransomware, or their money from banking Trojans,” says Timur Biyachuev, director, anti-malware research, Kaspersky Lab. “This is why we work so hard to develop the best possible security solutions for our users, and we are proud that Kaspersky Internet Security has been awarded yet another independent commendation. This test is not the first time our work has been acclaimed – our products were awarded 60 first places in independent tests and reviews last year. These awards reflect our devotion to making the Internet a better, and safer place for everyone.”
