OREANDA-NEWS. The storms, hail and bad weather that hit France in May 2016, have produced record rainfall figures in addition to flooding and inundations in the Centre and Loiret sur le Loing, then the Seine in Paris.

Since the rain began, a total of 20,000 people have had to be evacuated and provided with shelter by the emergency services.

Carrefour store teams have been mobilised over the past two days, taking water, covers and mattresses to evacuated families.

Correspondingly, from 3 to 19 June, appeals for donations have been organized in 128 Carrefour Market and 55 Hypermarket stores, enabling customers to respond to the call for aid made yesterday evening by Secours Populaire to help families in need.

Finally, teams from the Saran warehouse have been busy meeting the most urgent material requirements since last Friday. In coordination with Carrefour teams in the field, Secours Populaire has made an appeal to  the Carrefour Foundation for €100,000 in aid. This will make it possible to provide high pressure cleaners to clean up areas that are still unfit for habitation as quickly as possible, mops and washing machines, which will be made available for families, refrigerators, gas cookers and mattresses.
