OREANDA-NEWS In Russia, the disappearance of inexpensive Spanish and Italian wines from the market is predicted, but this category can be replaced, RIA Novosti reports with reference to representatives of the Fort wine trading company.

"The changes that occurred in the market in the third quarter affected the segment of inexpensive wine. It now sells wines imported before the rise of duties, and then in the segment "up to 500-700₽" there will soon be almost no imports from the main countries — Italy, Spain, France. In more expensive segments, there is less demand, and competition from imports is wider," the company explained.

Daria Sologub, the company's import director, added that wines from the most popular countries in Russia — Italy, Spain, France, Australia, the USA and New Zealand — will be replaced in the inexpensive segment by Chilean, Argentine and South African wines. There is also a chance of expanding the sales volume of Turkish wines in the market.

Earlier, the popularity of foreign wine in Russia reached record lows.
