OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan considers Russia's decision to suspend imports of Japanese fish products "unfair and regrettable" and demands the cancellation of this decision.

The Rosselkhoznadzor, against the background of the beginning of water discharge from the emergency Japanese Fukushima nuclear power plant, reported that since October 16 it has joined China's restrictive measures.

"This is an unfair and regrettable decision that is not based on a scientific basis. We demand that this decision be withdrawn," the agency quotes representatives of the Japanese department.

On October 5, the discharge of the second batch of water began. The IAEA stated that the plans to dump this water into the ocean, which will take 30 years, fully comply with international standards. China, being the main importer of Japanese seafood, has imposed a total ban on their import and processing. Russia accounts for 0.1% of Japanese seafood exports.
