OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government and the regions to increase production and increase the availability of basic food products on the domestic market. The text of the document was published on the Kremlin website.

"The Government of the Russian Federation, together with the executive authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, ensure an increase in production volumes and an increase in the availability of basic food products on the domestic market," the instruction says.

The Russian leader appointed Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and senior officials of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation to be responsible for the execution of the order.

It is noted that the first report on this issue, Putin is waiting until December 25.

Earlier on the same day, it became known that the Ministry of Agriculture plans to increase the volume of purchases in order to curb the rise in prices for vegetable oil and sugar. A special fund and reserve storage will be created for granulated sugar. It can be opened if required in a difficult market situation. And for vegetable oil, export duties can be increased.

At the end of November, Putin said that the rise in prices in the country had accelerated, and that it was a sensitive issue for citizens.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade told Izvestia on October 14 that it recommended that retail chains switch to direct contracts with suppliers of socially important products - milk, meat, eggs, vegetables - to reduce prices.
