OREANDA-NEWS  Following the ban on the export of certain types of poultry meat, the Russian Federation may also ban the export of edible eggs abroad for six months.

The draft government decree "On the introduction of a temporary ban on the export of food eggs from the Russian Federation" is being prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. A notification about this is posted on the website regulation.gov.ru .

This decision is aimed at avoiding price increases and the threat of a shortage of eggs. "At the moment, there is a significant increase in domestic prices for poultry eggs in the Russian Federation. According to the departmental monitoring of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the growth compared to the corresponding period last year amounted to 24%, - said in the materials of the department posted on the website. - This situation is primarily due to the increase in the cost of production of these products against the background of a high dollar exchange rate. In addition, the current situation contributes to the excessive attractiveness of the export of these products in comparison with supplies to the domestic market, which poses a threat to the food security of the Russian Federation."

With this in mind, the Ministry of Agriculture, in order to curb the growth of consumer prices and prevent a shortage of eggs, proposes to establish a temporary ban on their export for six months.

As reported, the Ministry of Agriculture also proposes to ban the export of certain types of poultry meat for six months. The notification on the development of the draft of the relevant government decree is also posted on the website regulation.gov.ru . Which specific types of products may fall under the ban, the agency does not specify yet.
