Malaysia plans to relax entry rules from March 1, 2022. The National Economic Recovery Committee has recommended opening borders to foreigners and exempting them from mandatory quarantine, local media reported, citing committee head Muhyiddin Yassin. Travelers entering Malaysia will be required to undergo COVID-19 tests before departure and upon arrival.
If the Malaysian authorities begin to let tourists in under a scheme similar to the procedures for entering Thailand (PCR tests before departure and upon arrival), this will increase interest in the destination, market participants say. According to information from tour operators, for entry you need a vaccination certificate in English, a voucher for paid transfer and hotel accommodation, medical insurance with coronavirus treatment coverage in the amount of $80,000, a negative PCR test result not older than 72 hours, a return ticket and a stay program accompanied by a guide from a licensed travel company in Malaysia with the contacts of the host. You also need to install the MySejahtera application.
An analysis for coronavirus upon arrival costs $95 on the island or $120 at the airport in the country's capital.
Holidays in Langkawi require self-discipline from tourists: almost every day you need to pass additional mandatory tests. So, on the second, fourth and sixth day - self-testing (express method, the result is entered into the MySejahtera application). On the third and fifth days of stay - an analysis for antigens in the clinic. On the seventh day, a PCR test is due.
