OREANDA-NEWS Brazil, India and the USA became the main buyers of fertilizers from Russia in 2023, RIA Novosti calculated based on data from the UN Comtrade platform and open statistics.

These countries accounted for about 60 percent of all fertilizer exports from Russia — about 18.5 million tons.

Brazil has increased supplies, buying 9.4 million tons for almost four billion dollars. In 2022, Brazilians bought eight million tons of fertilizers. India and the United States also increased purchases in Russia to 4.8 and 4.3 million tons, respectively. The Indians and Americans paid the Russian side $2.2 billion and $1.6 billion, respectively.

China (2.1 million tons for $892 million) and Indonesia (1.1 million tons for $481 million) rounded out the top five.
